Stephen Mann

Stephen is a Senior Associate with the Firm, who specialises in the corporate and commercial matters, with a particular focus the marine, aviation, insurance, international trade, space, funds, trust and banking and finance sectors.

Stephen commenced his professional career at Stephenson Harwood in London, practicing in shipping, commercial litigation and tax and then spent 12 years at Rayfield Mills of Newcastle Upon Tyne, a practice started by Eversheds staff to specialise in commercial law, especially in relation to marine, insurance litigation and international trade matters. At Rayfield Mills Stephen’s experience included sale, purchase, finance and registration of ships, yachts and offshore structures, disputes under sale, charter, build, carriage and commodity and insurance contracts and representing clients (especially insurance companies) in the courts, arbitration and mediation.

Stephen represented Total Transport Corporation in “The Protank Orinoco”, reported in Lloyds List in 1997, being a seminal English Commercial Court case on deductions from carriage freight in the oil industry.

Stephen’s wide range of international law experience makes him a valuable asset to those of our clients who have complex cross border issues to manage and take advice upon.

In 2010 Stephen completed the Executive Space Diploma at the International Space University in Strasbourg and has acted in a number of the firm’s Space sector related instructions.

Stephen holds an LLB/MA from Oxford University (Jurisprudence) and qualified as an English solicitor in 1995 before then moving to the Isle of Man in 2007 and was called to the Manx Bar in 2012.

Stephen is fluent in business Spanish (holding the Diploma of the Institute of Linguists) and French. He also speaks some Italian.
